Christmas at Waddesdon is paused for 2026 during conservation work and returns in 2027. On instead: a 4 to 6 December makers fair and November dusk openings.

There is no Christmas at Waddesdon in 2026. Waddesdon Manor says its Christmas event “will take a pause in 2026 while important Conservation in Action projects take place across the estate”, and that it returns in 2027 as part of the house’s 150th anniversary celebrations (Waddesdon Manor, tickets and prices). That means no Christmas light trail, no decorated house and no month-long Christmas Fair this year.

The quick answer

  • Christmas at Waddesdon is not running in 2026. It comes back in 2027.
  • An Artists and Makers Fair runs on 4 to 6 December at the Dairy, from £10, with house and grounds admission included.
  • Standing with Giants dawn and dusk openings run through November, from £15, with an evening performance on the South Terrace every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 28 November.

Waddesdon Manor Christmas 2026: what that means if you were planning a visit

Waddesdon Manor Christmas 2026 is not happening, and nothing has replaced it on the same scale. We checked every listing on Waddesdon’s What’s On page on 5 October 2026. The last dated event of the year is the Artists and Makers Fair on 4 to 6 December. There is no light trail, no decorated house, no food village and no Christmas Fair, and the old Christmas page now returns “page not found”.

What you can still do there between now and Christmas:

  • Standing with Giants, 21 October to 29 November, 10am to 4pm, in the grounds, with the dusk and dawn openings in November listed below.
  • 1939-1945: A House Interrupted, 21 October to 29 November, a tour of the house as it was when 100 evacuee children from Croydon arrived in September 1939. Waddesdon says it is free with a Standing with Giants grounds ticket.
  • The Great Pumpkin Adventure, 24 October to 1 November, 11am to 3.30pm, from £3.50, over half term. Children get into the house and grounds free on 24 and 25 October and 28 October to 1 November; the manor is shut on the Monday and Tuesday.
  • The Artists and Makers Fair, 4 to 6 December, the only festive event on the calendar.

If it is a Christmas light trail you are after, one big one within reach is Christmas at Blenheim Palace near Woodstock, 13 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, which our sister title Witney News covers in detail.

Why it is paused

The manor is part-way through two big pieces of work. The National Trust and the Rothschild Foundation are replacing the manor’s old gas boilers with what Waddesdon calls the National Trust’s largest ever ground source heat pump system, and the stone front of the house is being conserved ahead of the 150th anniversary. The pediment work needs a large scaffold to the roofline, and Waddesdon warns that views of the manor are affected while it goes on (Waddesdon Manor, Conservation in Action).

For comparison, last year’s Christmas at Waddesdon ran from 22 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, Wednesday to Sunday plus four extra days in Christmas week, from noon to 7pm with late openings on Saturdays. It had a light show on the manor, decorated rooms, a food village and a Christmas Fair that ran to 14 December (Waddesdon Manor, archived November 2025).

Artists and Makers Fair, 4 to 6 December

Waddesdon’s Artists and Makers Fair is the nearest thing to a Christmas market at the manor this year. It is a three-day fair of 25 local artists, designers and makers selling handmade gifts, art, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and homeware in the Dairy, with a pop-up restaurant and guided tastings of Rothschild wines and ports.

Tickets start at £10, and that covers the fair, the shuttle bus from the car park to the Dairy, grounds and house admission and premium parking. VIP tickets, from £60, add a brunch or an afternoon tea, parking at the Dairy itself and a two-hour slot (Waddesdon Manor). The Dairy is step-free, and Blue Badge parking there has to be booked in advance.

Standing with Giants, 21 October to 29 November

The For Your Tomorrow installation by Standing with Giants is a field of life-size silhouettes remembering the 1,476 people who died under British command on D-Day. It is in the grounds from 21 October, 10am to 4pm, and across November Waddesdon opens the grounds outside normal hours to see it at dusk and at dawn.

The twilight openings include a performance on the South Terrace each evening:

  • Friday 6 November: Waddesdon School
  • Saturday 7 November: Halton, High Wycombe and Bicester Military Wives Choir
  • Friday 13 November: Waddesdon School
  • Saturday 14 November: Ellesborough Silver Band
  • Friday 20 November: Rock Choir
  • Saturday 21 November: Chinnor Silver Band
  • Friday 27 November: to be confirmed
  • Saturday 28 November: Winchendon Brass

Dawn and dusk tickets do not cover daytime entry, which is a separate ticket. Tickets can be amended up to 48 hours ahead but are not refunded. Other Remembrance events in the district are on our Aylesbury Remembrance Sunday page.

Waddesdon is open Wednesday to Sunday plus bank holiday Mondays. The grounds open 10am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm, and the house noon to 4.30pm, from 11am at weekends (Waddesdon Manor, plan your visit).
